Spellbound
A personal showpiece from our Creative Director David Kirkland that’s had us all mesmerized by Icelands beauty in this dramatic cinematic composition of his road trip to Iceland.
David writes:
”The beauty of drone photography is that you gain access to a world that is humanly impossible to reach. To see something so original that no one as seen it from that same perspective ever before is fascinating. The intrigue is immediate - captivating our senses. With this new found territory, the effort to make every frame beautiful remains the objective throughout. On a road trip, there are no second chances.”
“I like prefer to limit the camera movement – essentially locking it off as if it were on a tripod. Left and right (truck) or up down (pedestal). I feel this keeps the viewers attention on the picture and doesn’t draw attention to the robotics / noticeable movements that feel more like surveillance camera.
With limited flight time, I spend a few minute exploring the area and then make quick decisions about where I want to start recording and where it will end. Sometimes, holding a frame without movement can be more effective than flying just because you can.”
